Pretended to die to see how my dog would react.

LMAO….. omg

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.
Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man’s sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this ‘anonymous’ poem winging across the Internet. Cranky Old ManWhat do you see nurses? What do you see? What are you thinking when you’re looking at me?A cranky old man, not very wise,Uncertain of habit, with faraway eyes?Who dribbles his food and makes no reply. When you say in a loud voice, ‘I do wish you’d try!’Who seems not to notice the things that you do.And forever is losing a sock or shoe?Who, resisting or not, lets you do as you will,With bathing and feeding, the long day to fill?Is that what you’re thinking? Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse. You’re not looking at me.I’ll tell you who I am as I sit here so still,As I do at your bidding, as I eat at your will.I’m a small child of ten, with a father and mother,Brothers and sisters who love one anotherA young boy of sixteen with wings on his feetDreaming that soon now  a lover he’ll meet.A groom soon at twenty my heart gives a leap.Remembering, the vows that I promised to keep.At twenty-five, now I have young of my own.Who need me to guide and a secure happy home.A man of thirty, my young now grown fast,Bound to each other with ties that should last.At forty, my young sons have grown and are gone,But my woman is beside me to see I don’t mourn. At fifty, once more, babies play ‘round my knee,Again, we know children, my loved one and me.Dark days are upon me. My wife is now dead.I look at the future. I shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing young of their own.And I think of the years, and the love that I’ve known.I’m now an old man and nature is cruel. It’s jest to make old age look like a fool. The body, it crumbles. Grace and vigour, depart. There is now a stone where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass, A young man still dwells,And now and again my battered heart swells.I remember the joys, I remember the pain. And I’m loving and living life over again.I think of the years, all too few, gone too fast. And accept the stark fact that nothing can last.So open your eyes, people. Open and see.Not a cranky old man.Look closer .. See.. Me.

Cranky Old Man

What do you see nurses? What do you see?
What are you thinking when you’re looking at me?
A cranky old man, not very wise,
Uncertain of habit, with faraway eyes?
Who dribbles his food and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice, ‘I do wish you’d try!’
Who seems not to notice the things that you do.
And forever is losing a sock or shoe?
Who, resisting or not, lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding, the long day to fill?
Is that what you’re thinking? Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse. You’re not looking at me.
I’ll tell you who I am as I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, as I eat at your will.
I’m a small child of ten, with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters who love one another
A young boy of sixteen with wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now  a lover he’ll meet.
A groom soon at twenty my heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the vows that I promised to keep.
At twenty-five, now I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide and a secure happy home.
A man of thirty, my young now grown fast,
Bound to each other with ties that should last.
At forty, my young sons have grown and are gone,
But my woman is beside me to see I don’t mourn.
At fifty, once more, babies play ‘round my knee,
Again, we know children, my loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me. My wife is now dead.
I look at the future. I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing young of their own.
And I think of the years, and the love that I’ve known.
I’m now an old man and nature is cruel.
It’s jest to make old age look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles. Grace and vigour, depart.
There is now a stone where I once had a heart.
But inside this old carcass, A young man still dwells,
And now and again my battered heart swells.
I remember the joys, I remember the pain.
And I’m loving and living life over again.
I think of the years, all too few, gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people. Open and see.
Not a cranky old man.
Look closer .. See.. Me.

Moderat - Rusty Nails

(Live @ Casa da Música, Porto, Portugal)

Work of some friends

I would like to dedicate the first post of my blog to expose some projects of my friends.

I am too very proud to present Chico - Perfect Beat Match, Moamêde - MadMoa, Ludovic - under some pseudonims, now by his real name, Ludovic. Last but not least, Miguel - Organic Anagram.

These are people that, in their own style, developed their personal projects - mainly centered in music - and I was lucky enough to see them born and gain shape.

If you want to book any or some of the people I introduce you here for gigs or djsets, please use the email in the “contact” place.

And here, I introduce you:

PBM (Perfect Beat Match) // Purple Dee

Name: Francisco Magalhães

Age: 23

Contact: xico.magalhaes@hotmail.com

Musical Genre of Choice: Deep House // Progressive House // Minimal // Techno

City: Braga // Vilar das Almas

This dude is one of my closest friends. I admire his capability of remaining calm and enjoying every moment in life. He is also the main reason why I started to listen to electronic music.

I met him maaaaany years ago at our old pre school/primary education. When we were little, I used to watch him play Sonic The Hedgehog on his handgame console. Over the years, I never saw him angry or loosing his temper.

He has the most beautiful taste in electronic music, seriously, where in the world does this guy discover some tracks?!

Truly there isn’t much more that I can say. He’s one of the best people I’ll ever meet and I am honored to be his friend.

Summary:

Purple Dee was born in 1986, in Braga, Portugal, and has lived there ever since. His interest for music was inexistent until one day he listened to some tracks of whom he thinks is the biggest Portuguese DJ/producer: Tó Pereira A.K.A. Dj Vibe. Soon this guy brought home one pair of Technics turntables and started mixing some vinyls. As his interest rose, more knowledge he gained about electronic music. Three years later, after the improvement of his mixing skills, Purple Dee discovers new paths through music production and in 2005 he creates his first successful remix  “D-Fuse - Everything with you”.

Some words you would like to share? (Give some background info, advice for the new kids, scream, major influences over you, whatever :)) (I’ll add later)

MadMoa

Name: Moamêde Sanhá

Age: 24

Musical Genre of Choice: Electronic

City: Braga // Guimarães

Contact: madfuc7ingmoa@gmail.com

Moa. Well, this dude is the funniest person you’ll ever meet. He can impersonate everyone and it’s impossible that you’ll leave the room without laughing. He has the skills when it comes to drawing and can get you a sketch in no time, leaving your mind blown. He had a part in GTA Bracara Augusta, a small independent movie that was made by fellow college students, in the last year of Communication Sciences. They got a 19 grade. I’ll get you the link soon.

Incredibly enough,  almost all of our conversations will converge to music. He’s also part of a hip hop band, the DataBase Groove, you can listen to some of their tunes in their myspace.

Links: www.madmoa.bandcamp.com ; http://www.myspace.com/madmoa

Summary:

Born under hiphop bless with his crew, DataBase Groove; grew in the nights of Bracara Augusta, feeding himself with drum’n’bass, weed and ideas; met electronica in a new ”dress”…Madmoa is the combination of urban music and and he expresses it, most of the time, with electronic sounds…Always thinking about new tracks and now emancipating his booking as a digital dj.

Ludovic // Ikimashoo Aoi

Name: Ludovic Pereira

Age: 22

Musical Genre of Choice: Electro // Techno // IDM // Minimal // 8-bit // …

City: Paris // Braga // Porto

Summary:

Well, Ludovic. Met this guy at our secondary school. He had never talked to me before, but saw me carrying a bass guitar, so he started a conversation about joining a band. Since then, we’ve been friends. Hell, this guy has the most sick skills to create a beat from scratch. He also has a big passion for lomography. I’ll leave a link to his kind of partnership (Analog Nights) with one more photographer.

He is also part of Freima, one group of electronic DJs who perform in the clubs of Porto. Don’t see this pokémon too often, I miss you, motherfucka!

Organic Anagram

Name: Miguel Meruje

Age: 23

Musical Genre of Choice: All. None in particular

City: London // Viseu // Quinta das Lameiras

First I would like to say that Organic Anagram - before the state of a project that consists in pretty much everything (Clothing // Urban Wear // Apparel // Caps // Books // Photography // Video, etc…) - had his first steps as a music project. You can easily find on the official website links for free download of albums, mixtapes, etc. This guy has an immense culture, he constantly travels, has read more books than you’ll ever read in your lifetime and, finally, has the strongest thirst for knowledge I’ll ever know. Truly a person that I admire and wish continued success in life and in his projects.

Summary:

The Organic Anagram Industries serves two purposes. An apparel company and the Print Club. With both you can count on limited run products that are crafted with love and the talent of those affiliated with us. Once they are released and sold out, there will be no reprints.
Organic Anagram is a big family and we want the friends that we gather through this, to assimilate our influences and be a part of our lifestyle. This is project made by real people. We are passionate about a lot of things, and we want our friends to be proud whenever they show their support for us. Since Organic Anagram started developing in 2005 until today, we are truly thankful and appreciate the support. This is our company but it is for you. We are focused on our goal and keen to build something to be proud of and like every streetwise kid who grew up in the 90s, our main influences are skateboarding and music.

Some words you would like to share? (Give some background info, advices for the new kids, scream, whatever :))

It is true, I spend a lot of time reading and watching movies, and I like to share my friends what is going on with my life. I often do some unusal things, so I like to put it out there to inspire people to do the same, like I do in my own blog (www.anagramaorganico.blogspot.com). In all these things I do, I rarely show my face because even though I enjoy the part of putting my ideas out there, I don’t like to be the face of it. As for the Organic Anagram Industries, it is something that I started and most of the ideas come from me, however we are dependent on a large group of friends and artists to produce them. It is a honest company, we have released a lot of products and they are always in limited numbers, which makes them selling out quickly. There is always a hidden message in our releases and it is good that people who support us have an idea that we are not only releasing prints or clothing, but they are also getting more than that. Our webpage (www.organicanagram.com) has constant news and we are dependent on people’s support.
